New duties of building owners/operators
With the update of the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV, 01.11.2011), both public buildings and commercially used buildings have to be tested for Legionella.
If the specified value is reached or exceeded, the building owner or operator is subject to a sanction. The initial examination has to be done before 31.12.2013.
What has to be monitored?
Commercially used buildings such as apartment buildings with more than two accommodation units and a hot-water supply system.
What are Legionella?
Legionella are aerobe rod-like bacteria, of which some species are the causative agent of Legionnaires disease. This is an infection that produces high fever and pneumonia.
